The latest debate is whether the Velvet Underground inspired Punk. Apparently they were rubbish live and nobody bought their records so they aren't as good as 999 and Eater. :0 Oh, that's an easy one - Buddy Holly - throw out my standard Buddy Holly is the original punk argument - think out of the box, like he did - then there's the Les Paul, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash argument - heck even Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday were punks - we could probably make an argument going back centuries if we look at it that way - I don't consider Jerry Lee since he was only expanding on what other people were already doing, ditto on Elvis if we're talking punk as an attitude relative to the respective current empire and not as a fairly recent pop culture metamorphosis, that is but am I looking at the wrong forum? I don't see that discussion on the one I was looking at or else I'm just as blind as I have been lurking here and missing a lot of discussion oh, and tell them the Ramones were the founding fathers of Surf Punk, that will be well received **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Ari Thank You I thought I'd seen Mark's name here recently - Stewart I exchanged mails with...oh, a couple of years ago now - I've been out of touch to say the least - not that I mean to exclude anyone, it's just I was on a bunch of forums with all of them over the years when I was active - went on hiatus and have been mostly lurking for years now - I met a bunch of you in Chicago years ago too - I'm just stunned when I realized lately what a hermit I'd become and that it's years not months I think I just found Dan out there in cyberspace - it's the Mekons and Naked Raygun recommendations that tell me it might be so - I'm going to investigate - I was lurking on Typical Girls list and I'd see him occasionally but haven't been on there in a while - course I could just write to him directly, but where's the challenge in that? I just got the email with the forum info on it, thanks for that too - I was looking at ideal copy, although I did look in on the pink flag one and saw the Magazine thread - probably should have opened it and read instead of talking out my behind but that's what I excell at so why switch gears now? I'm Laurel by the way - I did try to post a while ago but never got through - - reading later emails it occured to me that there were some email conflict issues for a while? - not sure how much I'll be around but it's nice talking to all of you again, thank you for the hospitality **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges?
