Or indeed those who don't actually make a great deal of stuff!. As wonderful as they are, what do the members of say, Broadcast live on during their 6 year gaps between LPs and tours?! The PRS reckon only about 2,000 people in the UK make enough from PRS & royalties to make a living. And of course illegal downloads mean theres even dosh to be made. Always amuses me to see the tens of thousands who flock to those X-Factor auditions expecting fame & fortune, the same people who also expect to get their music for free. Quite interesting article in Word this month which notes that the rock royalty like McCartney, Led Zep and some US Rap/R&B stars will probably the last to be making the really silly money from Music alone.
