Wire played probably even faster and harder than London , it really rocked. unfortunately the audience was a lot "cooler" and didn't give out half the reaction the London crowd did (this surprised me , generally a West Mids crowd is far more appreciative than a London crowd , a fact i've always ascribed to yer typical Brummie being determined to get his money's worth - no way will he pay a tenner to see a band then prop the bar up during the set or chat through it). obviously the folks of nottm are more boring or affluent or whatever , but there wasn't quite the "buzz" of the Scala (especially at first). still a great show and really good to see a few midlands faces in attendance. setlist was as per the Scala but no 3rd encore. sorry i won't be at manchester tonight but i have a bedroom to paint (sorry for the astburyesque excuse there) , enjoy yourselves all who attend. p ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2008 10:24:07 -0400 From: Jeff Wasilko Subject: [idealcopy] Anyone heard from Miles Goosens ? Hi: Your listowner ( Miles Goosens ) seems to have disappeared and hasn't been taking care of the list. If anyone knows what's up with him, please get in touch with me. - -j ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2008 16:42:36 +0100 From: "Keith" Subject: RE: [idealcopy] london & nottm >well what a great week , i caught 2 of the gigs and i think fair to say a great time was had by all. impressive showing by the IC massive , almost everyone seems to be going to see at least one of the shows and i only heard one feeble excuse for non-attendance (hi keith). Yeah, gutted about this! As a few folk here know, I've decided to go and see Julian Cope in Liverpool, figuring that I've seen Wire twice this year, and not seen Julian for over 12 months. And of course Pete Burns is playing an acoustic set as support, so the prospect of a campfire version of You Spin Me Round has proved too strong to ignore! But yeah gutted, that both gigs are the same night, especially as I wasn't able to make any of the other nights. >sorry i won't be at manchester tonight but i have a bedroom to paint (sorry for the astburyesque excuse there) , enjoy yourselves all who attend. Magazine hardly conquered the sales charts, no? Or is that music is no longer his main bag? (I also mean to ask this obliquely about Bruce Gilbert.) cc ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2008 18:55:18 +0100 From: "PAUL ANDERSON" Subject: RE: [idealcopy] Wire in Glasgow Brilliant gig last night. Saw Lewis in the crowd when support were on. Was a bit concerned at first as there were only about 70 folk in at 8:30 but place filled up nicely for Wire. They seemed to be flattered slightly that we got them back for a second encore and it was the fastest 12XU I've ever heard. Comet is fast coming a favourite live song and they were so tight with it. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-idealcopy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-idealcopy@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Scott Sent: 12 September 2008 01:59 To: idealcopy@smoe.org Subject: [idealcopy] Wire in Glasgow Absolutley amazing.... No surprises from the Lauvan gig just different order.apart from the brilliant "He Knows" Nice JP dedication.
