Been listening to "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" - Byrne/Eno 2008. Firstly, THIS IS NOTHING LIKE MLITBOG! Actually, it's much more of a David Byrne album with Eno production. Unfortunately, I don't feel it's up to some of his better solo stuff. Oh, well. On another off-topic, anyone willing to conjecture on the likelihood of Magazine hitting the States? I saw them (don't remember which guitarist, but it was Secondhand Daylight era) in Syracuse, NY in a weird little club with about 15 people attending. DeVoto had a mike stand with a sort of ladder rig so he could climb up and glower at the audience. Anyhow, it was an ay-may-zing show. I saw Wire at the South Street Seaport! First time for me. I've been a fan since Pink Flag. I like X47 lots, but I'm not about to write a review Cheers, Henry Beer On 9/5/08 12:54 PM, "Robert Cambra" wrote: > On no! I didn't read the fine print. By other reports on this list, not likely And I concur that Devoto would be the deal-breaker Looking forward to Wire in Chi, which is always a peak experience ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2008 17:49:43 -0400 From: Brian Smith Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Re: Wire at the Fillmore, SF On Sep 10, 2008, at 11:30 AM, David McKenzie wrote: >> Been listening to "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" - >> Byrne/Eno >> 2008 > > Kinda like this one at first impression > Not certain how it will stand the test of time un-lurking, as well... I bought the "deluxe" package which included the digital download as well dvd and other goodies yet to be released; have been listening to it in the car for about a week. I totally concur that it is NOT Bush of Ghosts nor does it even hold a candle to it. My most prevalent observation is that (IMHO) Eno's music would be better suited to his own lyrics and vocal styling/s. Like anything, some of the tracks are more successful than others but all in all, I find myself wishing that Eno was signing his own lyrics. Anxiously looking forward to Wire in Boston in less than a month. I do not know the club well but would welcome the opportunity to toast other list members before and/or after the gig, at said venue or other nearby watering hole. Kind Regards, Brian "Everything I'm going to tell you tonight is true, except the part about the banana sticking to the wall."
