I think this is an awful idea. Only 9 non-monarchs have received a state funeral in the past 500 years, the last one being wartime PM Winston Churchill. Even The Queen Mother and Lady Diana didn't have state funerals. Should we honour someone who caused such massive damage to British industries, introduced the unfair Community Charge (Poll Tax), handled The Falklands Conflict so poorly, curbed the power of trade unions, abolished the Greater London Council, supported Section 28 and befriended former Chilean president and dictator Augusto Pinochet? No, simple as that. And that's just a few examples, there are plenty more. The state funeral is not a certainty, so please let Gordon Brown know that you oppose the idea. In 3 days the petition has had over 3000 signatures with very little advertising, so thank you to all of you. Let's see if we can't get over 100,000 or even a million. Please sign this petition and invite all your friends to join the groups. Also, could you please Fwd this message to all your friends and family or post it on any forums you are a member of. It'll only take 2 minutes of your time to sign up and forward the links. Speaking of Pixies, I don't know if I mentioned this - but I picked up the MoFi Original Master editions of Surfer Rosa and Doolittle. These are not only high quality CD remasters, but SACDs as well. They both sound amazing in SACD. Especially Surfer Rosa - due to Steve Albini's "pure" analog recording techniques. I wish I had my real stereo put together - I've been using a decent computer set-up lately, since the real one is still in boxes from when I moved 3 years ago. >< Bossanova is next - I'll probably pick that up too. http://www.mofi.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=28&idproduct=144 More information here: Surfer Rosa http://www.mofi.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=2&idproduct=102 and here: Doolittle http://www.mofi.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=2&idproduct=128 Cheers, Paul - ----- Original Message ----- From: "elektrolad" To: Sent: Friday, July 25, 2008 12:51 PM Subject: [idealcopy] OT: the Pixies downloads - cheap! > http://amiestreet.com/pixies > > > > You are receiving this email because I sent it to you. Hi Ari, No explanation was ever necessary - we've all made mistakes from time to time. On the other hand, it was very kind of you to let us know a little of what's been going on in your life. I don't want to dwell on negative things, or sound too much like a "mee too" writer - both of which I tend to do - so I'll keep this brief. Just know that we care about you, and hope things get better for you very soon. Looking forward to your next humorous (or is that humourous?) e-mail on IdealCopy. ^_^ Cheers, Paul - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ari" To: Sent: Thursday, July 24, 2008 3:08 PM Subject: [idealcopy] Maybe an......... > ..........explanation of my slip is needed, of course I know G.L is > bassist, one isn't a fan of Wire for 30 years and not know but, as 4 of > you on this list know, this past few weeks I have been having to cope with > a life-changing situation that had put me into a deep depression (which I > am 'just' beginning to climb out of )and a mind-set of complete denial as > to what is going on in my life. > What 'gets me by' is the fact that I have friends here that have been > showering me with love and clients who's houses I enter every day that > expect, and get, a smile and a friendly attitude from yours truly. > In a few weeks time this shall pass, of necessity, as my situation changes > and unfolds, and hope again rises on the horizon.it's one of the reasons I > haven't been as active on the list or forum (or as humorous) as I have > been in the past, so bear with me as I learn how to cope with this new > situation which, of course, I shall -being one of life's 'survivors'.Ari ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Jul 2008 17:16:55 -0700 (PDT) From: Ari Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT: the Pixies downloads - cheap! shame they don't release them on DVD format, more people have DVD players than SACD players..... and they could release all three albums on one disc............ zA Not recycling? watch THIS!! http://www.storyofstuff.com/ - ----- Original Message ---- From: Paul Pietromonaco To: idealcopy@smoe.org Sent: Saturday, July 26, 2008 7:21:16 PM Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT: the Pixies downloads - cheap!
