I don't see why anyone should care about that. Copyright exists, at least in the US, to "promote the progress of science and useful arts", according to the Constitution. It's hard to see how letting EMI retain control of this work promotes that progress. >>> The US protection is 95 years<< It's 95 years for corporate authorship, life plus 70 years for individual authorship This will likely be extended indefinitely, each time Mickey Mouse nears the public domain. > Which is much more sensible - most artists will be dead before > control of > their work is loosened. Unless Michael Jackson lives to 105, which > looks a long > shot, to be honest. Many, if not most artists, especially musicians, lose control of their work long before they die. Very few are in a situation in which they could actually be paid for work 50 years after they created it. Extended copyright term is nothing more than corporate welfare, and causes art to be suppressed simply because noone can determine who the copyright holder is a century down the road. Unless it's Michael Jackson, of course, who will live FOREVER. ;) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jul 2008 17:44:00 -0700 (PDT) From: Ari Subject: [idealcopy] Hmmmmmm http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/watermelon-natural-viagra-198753/ Not recycling? watch THIS!! http://www.storyofstuff.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jul 2008 19:40:17 -0700 From: "Glenn Page" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Hmmmmmm i tried the seeds, mmmm, yeah baby!!!
