Today it quite probably would. Even back then this was probably seen as marginal & "indie" when the word meant something. Would Certainly too off the wall for Daytime radio 1 & commercial radio back in the day..... Bruce is great in this video....pity Margaret didn't don the suit, hat & sunglasses & red lippy..now that would have been confusing!! My fist real exposure to Wire was seeing this on the Chart Show on ITV. Still a shame that the glorious Pop singles of Wires 80s era get overlooked by Pink Flag etc and would be great if some of this stuff could filter back into the live set...... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 May 2008 01:58:31 +0100 From: Tim Subject: [Fwd: [idealcopy] you never need an excuse to watch this] also...did anyone ever make a list of who all the celebs sticking their fingers in there ears are? Maybe Mary's death and Tim & Letitia splitting up took its toll on the music. This new ones sounds like they're making a bit more of an effort! Although still prefer their more driving, Krautrock stuff rather than the loungey stuff. Big US tour booked so hopefully some live dates over 'ere too....waaay to long since i've seen t'lab live. The new video/ song seems to be along these lines of fun and enjoyment. The only band that I think did seminal "stealing"... many others just stole. However, I think Two Lone Swordsmen's +The Double Gone Chapel; did a nice stealing in their last effort... the amalgam of early PiL, Bauhaus, et al. cheers, - -fernando On May 14, 2008, at 5:55 AM, eardrumbuz@aol.com wrote: > Transient Random Noise Bursts was my intro to the groop, and yes, > "It's what > it's all about, baby!" > > > > Though, I do go back to Mars Audiac and Emperor Tomato just as much, > if not > more. > > > > > -another the Paul > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Thom Heileson > To: MarkBursa@aol.com > Cc: tim@kidsindestructible.com; idealcopy@smoe.org > Sent: Tue, 13 May 2008 10:36 pm > Subject: Re: [idealcopy] new stereolab video > > > > > > > > I don't usually pipe up on this list, but...B > B > > On May 13, 2008, at 7:22 PM, MarkBursa@aol.com wrote:B > B > >>>> Margerine was Ok, I don't listen to it much...< >> B > >> Problem wi' t'lab (as they shall now be known) is too many albums > >> - so if > IB > >> want a fix I tend to go back to ars Audiac Quintet, or Emperor >> TomatoB > >> Ketchup...B > B > > It's all about TRANSIENT NOISE-BURSTS, baby.
