DENNIS WILSON'S BAMBU TO BE RELEASED IN MARCH The late Beach Boy Dennis Wilson's out-of-print debut LP, Pacific Ocean Blue, will be reissued in a special Caribou/Legacy edition with the bonus of his never-released second LP, Bambu. Bootleg copies of the second album have circulated for years but under the title Bamboo. The press release was announced Jan 11, 2008 by Jon Stebbins. "Don Williams Music Group takes pride in announcing that twelve original compositions co-authored by Dennis Wilson and writer client Gregg Jakobson will be included on the upcoming Caribou/Legacy release by Dennis Wilson, Pacific Ocean Blue/Bambu. "A March 2008 release is expected for the two-disc package that will contain the late Beach Boys' acclaimed 1977 solo work Pacific Ocean Blue and will feature Wilson's previously unreleased Bambu LP, described by rock historians as a lost classic." I was in Borders on Tuesday, and had just spotted that the latest copy of Asian Woman magazine has (as noted on the cover, I wasn't browsing) 154 health and beauty tips, when I noticed I had an answerphone message on my mobile. It was somebody from the Beeb who's name I couldn't make out thanking me for the suggestion and advising they'd be playing it on that evening's Tom Robinson programme. In fact he went on, almost at length (or seemed to do so). Anyway on Tuesday evening, regrettably, I wanted to watch the documentary about E from Eels finding out about his dad and his parallel universes theory, so had to keep popping over to R6. Dunno why, I know what the track sounds like and I know my own name, but, well, y'know... Anyhow I caught most of it. It didn't sound as punchy and crystal clear as I would have thought, but still good to hear it within the context of a radio programme. Oddly satisfying, and kind of them to let me know by phone. www.thisisnorthcliffe.co.uk Any opinions expressed in this e-mail are those of the individual and not necessarily the company.
