Much as I enjoy my recent-ish acquired ipod nano (despite its capacity) the world of public transport is becoming a fkin nightmare on account of personal music players. I won't impose hissy tinny versions of the music I like to listen to on others forced into my proximity, but it's not a reciprocal sentiment. On the bus into work I'm regularly surrounded by 4 or 5 people with leaky earphones. It used to be just the odd one or two, but no longer. Can't get any reading done. Then there's people who don't even bother with earphones and have some crappy device that seems to make everything sound like Pinky and Perky (unless of course everybody's listening to Pinky and Perky). And don't get me started on chewing gum on the pavement... Think I'll go and have a lie down ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2008 10:30:27 -0800 From: nowhere_man Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Devo Plays Microsoft! pinky and perky.......a roll in the mud never hurt this pig it's 1989 and ugly is in.......pop will eat itself....pinky and perky? Despite the invention of headphones its a weird return to the pre-Walkman days when presumably the 60s/70s version of these kids annoyed people with a little AM radio. The thrill of getting on peoples nerves crosses generations! My mobile can do this!, am tempted to load it up with Merzbow, Whitehouse, Throbbing Gristle etc ready to drown out the next Train-DJ. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jan 2008 04:02:32 +0000 From: Tim Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Re: iPod Volume Limit (was Devo Plays Microsoft!) eardrumbuz@aol.com wrote: > I'm in the U.S., and my iPods have a volume limit setting you can adjust > and switch on or off. My Ipod has this too, its still pitifully quiet with that switched out. Something in the firmware (or worse, the hardware) caps the volume limit for us EU/UK. Even with my gig-battled eardrums my old Iriver H320 was like some sort of sub-sonic weapon capable of turning your brain to porridge should you wish, so Crapple Shitepod wimpy volume is taking some getting used to. Hopefully someone will invent a hack for it as had been done with older Ipods I believe. If not, its going on Ebay. ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V10 #287 ********************************
