Colin mentioned it a while back (the Swim loo has been the location for several vocal performances); however, Colin also mentioned it on The Cartoonist Speaks: http://www.zeigermann.com/cartoonist/ http://www.zeigermann.com/cartoonist/categories/theCartoonistTalks/ 2007/10/14.html for the Colin Newman interview. I'd say "23 Years Too Late" caught me right off! There's something that I really about Wire when Graham and Colin are on the same song. I also have to agree with other listees about the Githead influence. There are several points, particularly in "Our Time" when I kept imaging Malka's voice coming in. Overall, the album seems a bit slower than R&B 1 and 2, but it makes up for that in terms of sonic density. A great addition to the Wire discography and I will definitely be ordering a copy ASAP! Now if we can just get a US tour out of this activity... perhaps with Githead in support? Just some wishful thinking I suppose. Hasta! Rick Tired of spam? Yahoo! Disrupt - Foundation Bit - Fantastic re-imagining of dub music taking the bass that one stage further. Genius. Lukid - The Now EP - layers of loops, hiss, buried melody and strange fluid, wobbly beats... Deepchord - Echospace - Sounds exactly as you might expect! Beach House - Beach House - Not my usual bag but despite the slightly self consciously lo-fi production can't fault this songwriting. John Foxx - Metamatic - Old news for many of you but my new discovery! "He's an Angle..She's a tangent." An Electronic set text, and an absolute masterclass in 80s Synth Pop..moody shots thru venetian blinds and all. The Klaxons favourite LP of all time, apparently, pop pickers! Deerhunter - Cryptograms/Flourescent Grey - Ah I think I get this now! A slow burner this one.
