Walking past a record shop in Leeds the other day, in the window they had the vinyl cover for the new album by Athlete. Sundry abstract shapes against a white background. Somewhat 154, I thought, but it could just be coincidence. Then earlier this evening, idley flicking through the channels I landed on a Jo Whiley-fronted prog on VH1 on which she was lauding the new self same album. A very brief clip of a video was shown which featured each member of the band in their own cube a la Es Devlin's stage designe for flag:burning, The music, brief though it was, sounded like the ubiquitous mulch that seems to prevail somewhat lately. I've heard nothing else by them. Just thought I'd share. Ian B PS just noticed in the PE newsletter that It Seems is available in download format. Good news for me - it's the one and only Newman album I've never heard. Been waiting years for the CD re-issue ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 08 Sep 2007 01:55:30 +0100 From: Tim Subject: [idealcopy] Clues on the website Lots to see & do on the new Wire site. Intrigued by news of Wire in studio in 07 Also see the last picture, taken in 2006, on the gallery. Is this new Wire a member down or is Bruce hiding? Is it WIE, or IRE now? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Sep 2007 18:22:44 -0700 From: "Paul Pietromonaco" Subject: [idealcopy] Hey - I have an obscure music question..... ..do you guys know where I can post it? Alright - I know you're dying to hear it. ^_^ So - here it is already: Anyone ever heard of the Japanese supergroup "NiNa?" I was cross-referencing thru Wikipedia and stumbled across this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NiNa Summary: It's a band with YUKI, Kate Pierson (!) and Mick Karn (!!), plus two people from the Plastics. I can't find any reviews on-line about this, so I was wondering if it was worth hunting down, etc. Cheers, Paul ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Sep 2007 21:36:49 -0500 From: "David McKenzie" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Hey - I have an obscure music question.....
