Liars are one of those bands that have always interested me, but I still haven't gotten around to grabbing one of their releases. I do like what I've heard from the last album (Drum's Not Dead), but haven't heard any of the earlier material. What's a good recommended starting point? ELUVIUM - copia L. PIERRE - Dip THE ANGELIC PROCESS - Weighing Souls With Sand ( ha, this one owe to MBV, now equally as to Michael Gira.. after half dozen opinion.. ) probably there are more, this one i can get of my head on 40 celsius degree.. hell.. :-( now playing Paul Anka --> Rock Swings cheers, mileta www.myspace.com/baltaarzauberquelle www.myspace.com/plastelin ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2007 13:52:27 +0100 From: "Ian Grant" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] RE: Liars On 8/23/07, Jason Rogers wrote: > I'll be seeing Liars in concert in a few weeks when they open for Interpol > here in Atlanta and am intrigued to see what they are like onstage. More orderly than I expected, I have to say: I'd been led to believe that they'd be a chaotic shambles, but they were surprisingly tight and really rather potent. Has to be said that I didn't guess they had a new album out: nearly everything they played was taken from "Drum's Not Dead", perhaps because it translated better from the studio. Fine by me, anyway. Liars > are one of those bands that have always interested me, but I still haven't > gotten around to grabbing one of their releases. That's a tough question to answer usefully! Personally, I'd start with "Drum's Not Dead" - their most fully realised and rich record, to my mind - but I daresay that others would disagree. The first one still stands up, but is the product of a very different approach. The second is something that I keep meaning to return to, having rather dismissed it at the time. And the new one, as previously mentioned, confused me when I listened to it yesterday. All in all, I'd recommend starting by picking a random number between one and four...!
