Almost as if the news of Bergman led him to give up? Of the two, give me Bergman every time - there are about a dozen great films in there and I suspect he created more masterpieces than anyone else (a throw away comment which I don't have time to consider more deeply at present - Kurosawa, Rohmer, Hawks and Godard must also be in with a shout and Kubrick's hit rate is astoundingly high). I have a soft spot for Antonioni's late 60s hippy work (Blow-Up especially) but the Monica Vitti period leave me somewhat cold. Isn't it sad though that I probably have more recall of Mike Reads' legacy especially those classic Comedians shows! I must see more of Bergmans work although I know theres not alot of belly laughs in there. That Notwist LP is great Keith. Been listening to some great stuff lately and Tarwater has been off the menu.I have not played them in a while.I have Sil ur somewhere and will dig it out. I got a copy of Icehouses best of - Primitive Man which I have played quite a bit. Memories are made of this. And Graham Coxons's Love Travels at Illegal Speeds is a great little album again which I have been playing alot but Interpols Antics is the most on rotation at present. NP 1977 - the spirit of punk 2 cd. (memories are made of this!! ) Chris ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V10 #153 ********************************
