(yes) well keith i also had a punk retro weekend but a little more surprising than the damned. finally , after about 25 years of trying , i got to see vic godard. must be my 4th attempt , every time i tried it got cancelled for some reason. after an excellent support set by the Fallen Leaves (ex-sect man rob symmonds new band) , on came vic , resplendent in his GPO-issue dungarees. and , would you credit it , he picked up a guitar and ran through the unreleased subway sect album from 78 , in honour of the impending release of a re-recorded version. the whole bloody lot ; different story , chainsmoking , parallel lines , we oppose all rock n'roll , why didn't you shoot me , out of view , some others i forget and a magnificent closer of "nobodys scared". (he also took a brief breather to croon "stamp of a vamp"). amazing stuff , never thought i'd get treated to that lot. there are some more dates planned apparently , i'd really seriously recommend getting in there and seeing him quick before he picks up his projected "blackpool" musical again (believe me this would not be so clever). great weekend! p ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2007 13:06:51 -0700 (PDT) From: Ari Subject: [idealcopy] botulism scare.............. Before saying goodbye, I wished him well and hoped for his safety as his area enters monsoon season. Last thing I expected was to experience monsoon type weather here in NY, twice in the past week. Nothing too serious in my immediate area, but many roads were closed due to flooding on Thursday. Today wasn't as bad. Now I see the pictures and stories in the news, and things look far worse in the U.K. I hope our UK Copyists are getting through this all okay, too. - -Paul C.D. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Jul 2007 15:39:37 -0700 From: "Paul Pietromonaco" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] underwater experiences And of course, it's kind of freakishly dry up here in Seattle. My best wishes to the UK listers as well - I've been listening to the BBC and it sounds like you're having a very rough time indeed!
