There's a shot of it in > my Dublin set of photos on Flickr (link below). My ex-wife is Charles's roadie - his line to her before he went on was "I don't think I'll start with my dance". That would've been the cherry on the cake. That funny little corner resists improvement despite the demolition of said fly-over though there are millions of pounds being spent on office developments nearby. We will even, eventually, get a huge rock/pop venue within a stone's throw of the TM railway station so that the likes of U2 and REM can drop in whenever they feel like earning a few bucks instead of playing in Cardiff or doing open-air gigs at Bristol City Football Club's ground (Who tickets sold like hot cakes for such a thing last year though Meat Loaf is having a tougher time this summer - buy one, get one free offer anyone? No, thought not). The delay to this arena thing even starting to be built has meant that the dear-old Colston Hall (where the real big names - Bowie, Stones, Beatles, Led Zepp - have played) has had a bit of a facelift and will continue to be the place where many bands will continue to play. The historians amoung you may be interested to know that Temple Meads is still very much as when designed by IK Brunel (although bits have been tarted up with coffee shops and sushi bars). Parts of the original station, with platform, still exist and are used as a car park and exhibition hall. I have a soft spot for railway history as my g-g-g-grandfather was involved in building the line from Bristol to London and his son was a fireman on the broad gauge Lord of the Isles. Heart trouble claimed him at about the age of 36. I'm hoping that my heart will cope with this http://tinyurl.com/3akuqp excursion, starting next week. Just look at the pic of the Stelvio. We will be attempting this after the usual Italian excuse for a breakfast at Bormio, which is at its foot apparently. A piece of white fluff sprinkled with sugar and a coffee are not fuel enough for climbing such a beast! We shall have to eat a mountain of pasta the night before and stock up with bananas...
