OST. i listen Clint's and Mogwai back to back and it work perfectly and now..... hahaha..i am ready to stand attacks.. my fave NO album is Republic.. i have my own reasons and Special is one of their best songs ever.., there are better albums , but this one is fave of mine.. Movement could be timeless, but blame Hannet on separate himself on both sides-Magazine and NO.. even i like all NO done..it have somehow always comforting irattional optimistic feeling to me.. now playing Port Royal _ Afraid To Dance cheers to all ~m_ www.myspace.com/baltazarzauberquelle > ------------------------------ > > Date: Sat, 19 May 2007 15:33:19 +0000 > From: "Jason Rogers" > NP: Mogwai - Zidane Soundtrack (I bought the U.S. release of Mogwai's Zidane > soundtrack yesterday as a blind purchase simply because I have everything > else by Mogwai. I like Republic, too. Also rather partial to various mixes of Spooky, etc! I must admit I haven't played Movement in years. I've never shaken off that disappointed feeling I had at the time. It may have been their first album, but these are the people who had made an album as timeless as Close a year or so before, and the title, Movement, seemed mis-leading. I don't dislike it by any means, but there was something lifeless and dirgey about it for me. I'll chime in on those Fluke mixes of "Spooky" also. Top stuff & particular faves of mine. Say what anyone will, I still love 'Movement', as much BECAUSE of Hannett as in spite of it. ;-) "Dreams Never End" is a classic, "Senses" has one of the great "growly" synth lines ever [and I LIKE the panning drums], "Chosen Time"s skittering effects/synths never fail to get me every time, and "Doubts Even Here" is the doomy Kraftwerk direction that would have (might have?) followed 'Closer' as a direction... I thought it was, like the albums they've done since, far too slickly produced. Much prefer to hear NO un-produced and finding their own clumsy way round a song with their Synths held together with duct tape. Was a mistake letting Stephen Hague add syrupy strings, bells and spanish guitars all over the place. Some great tunes buried on there though...you could probably piece together a brilliant version using the more skeletal remixes. Also Features my least favourite Peter Saville sleeve too (he was going through phase of using deliberately naff advertising stock-photos and Photoshop...doesn't do it for me) ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V10 #95 *******************************
