I caught the end of this programme, and the follow up on E4. What baffled me (apart from being reminded that rock fans really are a different breed) was that there were young people saying how great they were. It kinda beggars belief, really. I once had the mis-fortune to see them live in 1980. They were a joke then. No, that might suggest they were funny. They were shit then. I remember standing in the middle of what we used to call 'smellies', as some long haired ancient bloke called Bif took the piss out of the mod revival. Now as much as I liked the odd 2 Tone single, etc, I certainly wasn't a mod by any means, but I remember wanting to scream out "well it's better than this shit!". However, fearing for my safety amongst several thousand of these strange smelly rock types, I - for once in my life - kept my big gob shut and said nowt. But, from the safety of my front room, I can safely say One Step Beyond was far preferable to anything these dipsticks could ever come up with. So why we need a NWOBHM revival right now, I really don't know. And leave Fat Bob out of this, Paul. He's OK! K.
