Those still open and worth a look; Sister Ray (www.sisterray.co.uk) - still a decent vinyl selection, though probably not very cheap - but a good selection of new t-shirts Music and Vinyl Exchange (http://www.mveshops.co.uk/info/locations.htm) - second hand vinyl, you might find some of what you are after there, its pot luck really - they also have a branches in Camden High Street, Notting Hill Gate and Greenwich Vinyl Junkies - but its more a dance specialist In Camden, there is Ressurection Records (http://www.resurrectionmusic.com/shop/index.html), which is OK for goth/industrial stuff, may be worth a look. if you are there this coming Saturday (10 March) then there is also the record fair at Camden Electric Ballroom (http://www.vip-24.com/) regards, Ian ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Mar 2007 17:16:37 -0000 (GMT) From: aktivitaet@fivetenfifteen.com Subject: RE: [idealcopy] vinyl record shops in London And more: There are a couple of record shops on Hanway Street (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&GridE=-0.13202&GridN=51.51688&lon=-0.13202&lat=51.51688&search_result=Hanway%20Street%2C%20LONDON%2C%20W1&GridN=51.51688&GridE=-0.13202&db=GB&lang=&keepicon=true&place=Hanway%20Street%2C%20LONDON%2C%20W1&pc=&advanced=&client=public&addr2=Hanway%20Street&quicksearch=hanway%20street%2C%20london&addr3=london&scale=5000&addr1=), just off of Oxford Street (east end)- the names escape me for the moment, but they would be worth a look. And more in Camden; http://www.camdenguide.co.uk/shops/vinyl.htm Out on the Floor, 10 Inverness Street All Ages Records: 27a Pratt Street ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Mar 2007 10:25:10 +0000 From: tony clough Subject: [idealcopy] Re: idealcopy-digest V10 #41 From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?N=E9meth_Marcell?= > Subject: [idealcopy] vinyl record shops in London > > I'm doing a 4-day trip to London. These are all within ten minutes walk of eachother. Music and Video Exchange have branches in Notting Hill Gate and Camden (and Greenwich if you fancy a trip out from the centre). There are also a couple of interesting looking vinyl shops (which I haven't ventured into as I no longer buy vinyl unless its very rare and/or very cheap) in Essex Rd near the Angel Islington. You may also want to check out Beano's. It claims to be Europe's biggest second hand record store. Its in Croydon which is a half-hour train ride out from the centre. I'd check their website though as there has been talk of them closing down as well. Croydon also had a couple of other secondhand shops which may still be in business. Secondhand bookshops have fared even worse than record shops I'm afraid. I can't think of one to recommend. Happy hunting.
