["Cambra, Robert" Subject: [idealcopy] 27/11 - 20/11 paid a visit to notting hill on monday to see the latest live outing (the 4th apparently) in 27/11's "residency". also present was mr bursa , a lurking lister called sean (hi there) who i'd not met before , plus colin and malka. whereas the last show i saw (the first one of this series) was a packed house due to the swedish crayfish party beforehand , the lack of crustaceans seemed to have thinned out the attendance somewhat. still a good showing though , they call these nights the Beach Club which seems to mean you can buy a crap summer t-shirt if you so choose. this time (thankfully) EGL came on first , around 11-ish. he did a 6-song 30 minute set , i think maybe one new number from the last time. this one was better , more confident and direct. the opening and closing tracks were different versions of the Monks cover , should think that tribute album is well worth a punt. the new stuff is almost like a continuation of he said , quite commercial electronica. went down very well , everyone seemed to really enjoy it. really hope he sticks with this one and maybe releases some of it , it really deserves to be heard. by the time it was over it felt like time to go , fancied some food and feared maybe sci-fi skane wouldn't be on for hours. maybe next time ;-) p ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2006 12:15:53 -0800 From: "Cambra, Robert" Subject: Subject: [idealcopy] Lest we forget.. This arrived in the digest on my 50th birthday, Alistair's age when he left us, if I remember correctly. I had been thinking about him: A few weeks earlier when organizing some disks I came across a live Wire CD-R he'd made me Subject: [idealcopy] Lest we forget.. ...our dear friend Alistair, one year on from his untimely passing (checking my records it was Oct. 19th). Listening to 154 yesterday, when it came to A Mutual Friend, I was reminded. Various CDRs in my collection with Alistair's greetings scribbled on Post-its attached to the jewel cases remind me from time to time. The last one, of the 2005 Neubauten London concert, with the apology for being out of touch for a while.. "been off sick". Little did we know how ill he was. Here's to his memory.
