["Paul Pietromonaco" Subject: [idealcopy] OT- The Cure DVD I was on that Hungary gig, soundcheck bacame one of legendaru The Cure gigs and floating around as bootleg. here's news.. The official 'Festival 2005' (not sure if that is the release title) dvd is scheduled for release on Nov. 20th (Dec. 5th in the U.S.): "I'm forwarding you an e-mail from my friend who works (deleted - have to be careful these days), about a new Cure DVD. The message is below. "There is a new DVD from THE CURE that will be ready for release on DEC 5th in the U.S. and shooting to make a Nov 20 date for INTL release! SONGS FROM 9 SHOWS - A LOAD OF CURE FANS WITH MINI DV CAMERAS CUT TOGETHER WITH THE 'BIG SCREEN' FOOTAGE OF THE NIGHT! A MUST HAVE FOR CURE FANS - A GREAT HOLIDAY GIFT In 2005 a nascent Cure trio of Robert Smith, Simon Gallup and Jason Cooper celebrated the return of former guitarist Porl Thompson with a series of nine eclectic headline festival shows across Europe (SPAIN / BELGIUM / FRANCE / GERMANY / SWITZERLAND / SICILY / HUNGARY / GREECE / TURKEY). The quartet's unique blend of passion and power proved to be a thrilling combination, and the summer set a new benchmark for Cure live highs. Festival 2005 presents a selection of these performances captured by a mix of fans, crew and "on-the-night-big-screen cameras". Edited by Daren Butler and mixed by Keith Uddin in collaboration with Robert Smith, this 30 song DVD is a wonderful reminder of how and why The Cure remain one of the most vibrant bands on the planet." ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Nov 2006 06:44:01 EST From: MarkBursa@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] stepping off too quick/i should have known better/Ignorance n... Oh, for fuck's sake. John, I did not "take" tapes from you. I offered to make them into CDRs for you, and you sent them to me. You received the CDRs, plus some of my own archive for good measure by way of thanks. You were quite clear at the time that you did not want the tapes back, though you've subsequently changed your mind on about five occasions. As for the Dif Juz, yes, I've still got it. It's perfectly safe. I simply wanted to make a proper cover for it using the artwork, which, as I've explained to you on numerous occasions, has been a problem due to some quite serious computer problems that I've experienced (like HD crashes wiping out 6 months' work etc). And there's the small matter of the real world getting in the way too. Things like work, you know. These things take time - eventually they get done. I have told you time and again that I'll send the tape back once I've finished with it. Let's face it, John, it's not as if you haven't been able to listen to the album, since I made you a CDR of it. So what's the big deal? Are you anxious to flog the tape on Ebay? John, you have oversteped the line here. You have called me a "cunt" a "twat" and a "tosser" and threatened me with violence (though you might reconsider that threat if you met me) on a public, archived forum. Other members have been chucked off here for less, and I hope Miles sees fit to do the same with you. I centainly don't want to hear from you again. Now I don't want to get heavy or anything, but the libel laws apply to the internet. And as someone who has worked in the publishing industry for over 20 years, I'm fully conversant with their scope. However I'm not minded to let something so trivial become an issue. But I expect a full apology, and one to the listowner too for your unpleasant tirade. Now go away. A tip of the hat and a raised glass to the guy. > It is one of my few regrets on IdealCopy that I never posted a message to the list about Alistair's passing when we first found out about it. Belatedly, I will do so now. I never got a chance to meet Alistair in real life, or even speak with him over the phone. Our conversations were always via e-mail and post. But, I found him to be a generous, kind, funny, and warm human being. Indeed, I too remember post-its from Alistair, as well as short video clips from his cell phone and e-mail discussions about Wire, Tim Buckley, and whatever else came up. I still have all the little packets of audio treasures he sent me - they're somewhere safe in a box that I'm still looking for after I moved in with my wife in our new house last year. So - here's to Alistair. I still miss him. Cheers, Paul ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V9 #274 *******************************
