I've always wondered if that album was worth my time, money, etc. Now I have a much better idea of what's on it. Quick question about the Lush cover: I wonder if that's the same version that was on their 1992 "For Love" single? That was their first recorded Wire cover that I know about - Mannequin came later in 1995 (I believe). Also - where did you get this CD? Can you still order it from the manufacturer? Adam Franklin's Toshack Highway project is poised to release their 2nd album. Unfortunately, their site went offline, but the Swervedriver main page has some info about it: http://www.swervedriver.com/ You can hear some clips at his myspace page - links from the swervedriver site. Cheers, Paul P.S. Good to see I'm not alone here. I saw a live version of the Wicker Man (sans sacrifice) at The Margate Exodus on Saturday, when a huge statue built of household objects by Anthony Gormley was put to the torch in the car park of Margate's run-down Dreamland funfair. Went up very nicely as these pictures show http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/exodus/ The wind started to blow over the crowd at the end raining down burning embers on us. Fun! I was going to write this up but it proved an elusive day with large chunks of nothing happening - and in Margate (a Kent seaside resort that everyone stopped going to around 1966) that's really not good news. It culminated in a diverting concert by Margate residents interpreting songs specially written for the event by Scott Walker, Eno & Wyatt, Laurie Anderson and others. It is rather difficult to sum this up other than to say that the residents of Margate can certainly take a challenging song and reinterpret it in a multitude of ways - we had teenage thrash metal, hip hop, declamatory choruses and a wonderful hurdy-gurdy player among other things.
