Did V2 release it in Europe? Ah - the secret wonders of music downloading. I also tried to buy it legally but no one here knows anything about it. giluz - -- Now playing: http://www.last.fm/user/giluz/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Sep 2006 09:38:44 -0500 From: "David McKenzie" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] New Buffalo Daughter CD "Euphorica" I *love* this release too And am also awaiting some sort of option to purchase a copy for less than USD 40-50 Bird Song is just beautiful Mutating continues the progisms of Psychic Sometimes Lover channels Lizzy Mercier Descloux better than any straigt cover tune could. Peace has a marvelous stutter hook ("We just want the world p-peace") (and the male vocals - whover he is - grow less obnoxious over time) Buffalo Daughter has become one of my favorite acts over the past few years. "i" contained a number of surprises, and Psychic was a prog masterpiece for people who dont like prog. Their contributions to Japanese Kraftwerk and Gottschung tributes were exemplary as well. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 1 Sep 2006 09:34:14 -0700 From: "Paul Pietromonaco" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] New Buffalo Daughter CD "Euphorica" >I *love* this release too > And am also awaiting some sort of option to purchase a copy for less than > USD 40-50 > Oh - I didn't include that part in my e-mail did I? The cover looks great, BTW. I think it's made out of origami paper: http://euphorica.info/euphorica/artwork.html And did I mention that the Japanese edition is a Hybrid SACD? ^_^ > Bird Song is just beautiful > > Mutating continues the progisms of Psychic > > Sometimes Lover channels Lizzy Mercier Descloux better than any straigt > cover tune could. > > Peace has a marvelous stutter hook ("We just want the world p-peace") > (and the male vocals - whover he is - grow less obnoxious over time) > From the video for Peace (finally - something I've seen that you guys haven't seen yet.... maybe...^_-) it appears to be their long-suffering turntablist "MoOog". Usually relegated to art design and turntable work, I think he's decided to do main vocals. There may be some explanation on the official website ( http://euphorica.info/euphorica/text.html ) but unfortunately, it's in Japanese. The video is here, BTW: http://euphorica.info/origami/index.html > Buffalo Daughter has become one of my favorite acts over the past few > years. > "i" contained a number of surprises, and Psychic was a prog masterpiece > for > people who dont like prog. > Their contributions to Japanese Kraftwerk and Gottschung tributes were > exemplary as well. > I agree - and their live show is fantastic! I saw them on the "i" tour, and was hooked. Projected films, weird art design - the whole nine yards. The Psychic tour was opening for Blonde Redhead, so it wasn't as elaborate, but still captivating. I'll have to track down those tributes. Hopefully, there'll be a UK edition at some point. That's what happened last time. For some reason, though, there was no US release. If you're brave, there's two interviews here: http://web.mac.com/podcast_studio/iWeb/podcaststudio@omotesando/Podcast/4A047581-0318-442E-AB61-EF4B985E9CC5.html http://tinyurl.com/g5gg6 and http://web.mac.com/podcast_studio/iWeb/podcaststudio@omotesando/Podcast/4C6477AD-7571-4AFE-8186-0685B7BA8EB9.html http://tinyurl.com/k4qer They're in Japanese though. ^_^ UPDATE: Okay - I figured out why maybe no North American release. V2 has ceased to exist in NA. According to wikipedia: In 2006 Branson sold V2 Records North America to Sheridan Square Entertainment for $15 million. They since have merged V2 North America with their label Artemis Records. The new label is still "part of the Virgin group," but its future relationship with Branson is unknown. Interesting. As I said a few months back, they couldn't even fill Koko with about 1000 capacity on the latest tour. But they were always too in thrall to noise to be really big. And I'll miss them for their live noise presence.
