Two solid discs full of great music for each release with necessary singles, demos, and such that didn't spill into the Join The Dots box set. Plus I don't have to fool with DualDisc, a DVD disc, etc. and the format is painless for me to rip songs into computer, etc. at my leisure. I think that The Cure albums have been beautifully remastered. Seventeen Seconds is my all-time favorite album, but I didn't realize how badly the original CD release needed to be remastered until I bought the Deluxe reissue. Talk about an all-time favorite album becoming even better than before. I've got my money jar full and ready for the next three Cure reissues + The Glove reissue next week. "Remastering" is relative to the quality of the original - hence our struggles to detect quality improvements in the Wire remasters, yet 17 secs sounds like a new album... So many CD issues are still crap in terms of audio quality - the Joy Division and New Order ones are a disgrace. I'll take the vinyl any day. The NO cds sounded good at first release, but now sound terribly dated and hollow. No remasters from either soon, but I'm sure another compilation is being readied for Xmas. Are they just being lazy and letting the record company put these things together? wnd3 - --- MarkBursa@aol.com wrote: > >>I think that The Cure albums have been beautifully > remastered. These remasters are not as striking in sound quality improvement as The Cure reissues, but they sound a bit better to me than on the 1994 EMI releases that I had. I was expecting the reissue of 154 (my favorite Wire album) to be the one that I would be constantly spinning, but I was surprised to find myself blasting Pink Flag much more than the other two. There's just something about the Pink Flag remaster...it's seems to have much more "oomph" to it than the previous edition had. Much more of a rock record. And, of course, I'm slightly dismayed that the extended version of "Outdoor Miner" is not included on the Chairs Missing remaster. Some good quality remasters of Ideal Copy, A Bell Is A Cup..., IBTABA, Manscape, The First Letter, and A-Sides would be totally off the chain, in my opinion. I'd love to see these...especially IBTABA, which was my introduction to Wire all those years ago and is still in my top three Wire albums.
