Will it be worth it? Anyone heard the new stuff? ((( Funny you should ask that as I picked up a S/H copy of their new album "White Bread Black Beer" yesterday and found it a bit lacking and quite samey throughout. A bit bland. Nothing really stood out. No memorable melodies. Green's voice still sounds good, but it's not enough. Admitedly I've only listened to it once, though I took it off before the end as it was starting to bug me a little. Perhaps it should be called "Stale Bread Warm Beer" Fergus http://www.roomtemperature.org http://www.asullenrelapse.blogspot.com http://flickr.com/photos/55867717@N00/sets/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2006 21:46:57 +0100 (BST) From: Fergus Kelly Subject: [idealcopy] Captured I've got work in a show called "Captured" in Dublin, using some decommissioned Guinness factories as source material, and one of the pieces has been made specifically for the web. Click here: http://www.thedigitalhub.com/captured This will open the homepage. Click my name, and then click the B&W image at the bottom to access the piece "Haunted". This is a 4.5 minute series of slow dissolve stills with stereo sound using onsite materials. Don't recall Coogan or anybody else uttering the word though Well worth a look I'd say Did you see Saxondale the other night? I'm always wary when things are trailed with stuff like 'Steve Coogan unveils a new character' but I thought it showed promise. > > I've not read the book but I'm awating the Michael Winterbottom/Steve > Coogan film of it on DVD. The premise is pretty good...ex-Roadie turned Pest Control contractor with Anger Management issues living on a soulless 'starter home' estate with his girlfriend who runs a shop called "Smash the System" (on the high street near Clinton Cards)....lots of funny music references. Roberta Flack and the Proclaimers being more punctual than Iggy Pop..and the Banshees...but not Siouxsie. And I laughed when he shot the animal rights protester. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jun 2006 03:24:59 +0100 From: Tim Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Stale Bread Warm Beer Fergus Kelly wrote: > Andy said: > > pay #16.50 x2 to see Scritti Pollitti. I think its a grower (like Saxondale!) Anyone considering going to the shows should be advised that so far he hasn't played anything other than stuff off the new LP. Wire fans should be used to this! ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V9 #164 *******************************
