Thought it was a bit sub-Interpol on first plays, but it grew on me a lot. Some good songs there... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 15:58:49 +0100 From: "Keith A" Subject: [idealcopy] What Sven could learn from me The 'me' in question being Mark E Smith... http://arts.guardian.co.uk/features/story/0,,1790599,00.html [demime 0.97c-p1 removed an attachment of type application/octet-stream which had a name of Guardian Unlimited Arts Arts features Mark E Smith What Sven could learn from me.url] ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 11:47:30 -0700 (PDT) From: Ari Subject: [idealcopy] O.T: for the republicans on the list............ If you forward this please remove my email address first....... I have the distinguished honor of being on the committee to raise $5,000,000 for a monument of George W. Bush. We originally wanted to put him on Mt. Rushmore until we discovered there was not enough room for two more faces. We then decided to erect a statue of George in the Washington, D. C. Hall Of Fame. We were in a quandary as to where the statue should be placed. It was not proper to place it beside the statue of George Washington, who never told a lie, or beside Richard Nixon, who never told the truth, since George could never tell the difference. We finally decided to place it beside Christopher Columbus, the greatest Republican of them all. He left not knowing where he was going, and when he got there he did not know where he was. He returned not knowing where he had been, decimated the well-being of the majority of the population while he was there, and did it all on someone else's money. Thank you. George W. Bush Monument Committee P. S. The Committee has raised $1.35 so far Tired of spam? Yahoo! I think he was involved with the similarly rubbish-named Olivia Tremor Control, who made two albums, "Dusk at Cubist Castle" and "Dark Foliage" that I was rather fond of in the late 90s. I was in my major Brian Wilson phase and these were kind of lo-fi teenage symphony things...sound a bit like Swell Maps recreating 'Smile'. Bought 'In The Aeroplane...' a couple of years ago having stumbled across it on Amazon and thinking it had a great sleeve and read loads of great reviews. I like it..(first couple of tracks are amazing and I can see the Arcade Fire link) but didn't excite me as much as it has you...must give it another spin if I can find it. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 Jun 2006 01:55:27 +0100 From: Tim Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT: New Post-Punk cd compilation WITHOUT Wire... (Ace Granada TV doc about the first Sex Pistols shows in Manchester) Although you wouldn't know it from hearing Mick Rossi who has that odd cod-norther/'transadlandic' accent you only hear from 60s Radio DJs like Tony Blackburn or old ex-pat rock stars like Davy Jones out of the Monkees or Graham Nash...or that pretend Manc off Frasier. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 Jun 2006 02:11:59 +0100 From: Tim Subject: Re: [idealcopy] What Sven could learn from me You can fit in a frogs ear what I know about football but that Supergroup analogy seems to make some sense. He's saying you'd want the Football equivalent of Lemmy or Jah Wobble on the football equivalent of 'Bass' (defence right? With the goalie being the drummer?) rather than Pino Pallidino or whatever his fucking name is doing all wanky fretless stuff. Am I right? And interesting to read another The Fall has bitten the dust. They were pretty good too.
