Hi everyone, Just thought I'd mention that Ian Copeland - brother of Miles and Stewart Copeland - passed away May 25th. I would have mentioned it sooner, but I was on vacation in Mexico, and just noticed it now. More info here: http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,19120,00.html?rsslatest Cheers, Paul ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Jun 2006 20:43:28 EDT From: MarkBursa@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT: New Post-Punk cd compilation WITHOUT Wire... >>i actually would've gotten that if i'd had a clue where blackpool is. << England's Las Vegas - a seaside town about 40 miles north-west of Manchester. And, ahem, my home town (though I haven't lived there for 20-odd years.....) >>not sure why i remember why they -- along with, if memory serves, clock dva & various offshoots thereof (vee vv, or something like that, &/or maybe the box?) -- came from there, but i do.<< Ah, Dan, you're getting a bit muddled there. DVA were from Sheffield - part of the same Pete Frame family tree that spawned the Human League. VeeVV were from Blackpool - they were comprised of half of Blackpool's other FAC band, Tunnelvision, plus member of other defunct local bands. And one of the ex-TVN/VVVers is in the current SXXV line-up.... The Box were a DVA offshoot - after Adi Newton left, but took the name, the Thirst-era members continued as The Box, with a different singer. I suspect you're having a "Hicks from the Sticks" confusion moment - both SXXV and DVA were on that - the best two tracks on there as well.
