Which was precisely what he did - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Wain IMO his pics manage to combine being horrible and cutesy with also being quite disturbing - a tricky double punch to carry off. The reason I know this was that he got proposed for a blue plaque in London (my present line of work, as a researcher) - he was shortlisted, somewhat to my horror, but I suppose he has an adoring public somewhere.
