It can now play my PAL DVD zone 2 on my NTSC TV set without a problem! although I have to say for twice the money my pioneer DV383 gives a better mpeg4/Divx etc. picture and has no probs with PAL Tired of spam? Although it's a fabulous instrument it seems stuck in a nasal-via-back-of-the-throat worried register for most of the album, until the Donald Duck impression. And the otherwise execellent final track is slightly marred for me by Walker punctuating his vocals with the 'pss psss' noise I make when I'm trying to beckon a cat towards me. Musically, on the first play it's facinating, lyrically impenetrable. Ten tracks at well over an hour - it's deeply eccentric and not an easy listen - just as one might have expected, but those who rated Tilt are likely to approve. Ooh I'm all for a bit of heresy! I Was listening to Scott 4 this morning funnily enough. Even on this most socially acceptable of Scott records there are moments where 'the voice', as rich as it is... become a bit relentless. Still, I suppose part of what makes his later records so distinctive is to hear that same voice in a darker, more unsettling place. Unlike the Arctic Monkeys....although apparently Scott's a fan of them according to one of the interviews I've read Ten > tracks at well over an hour - it's deeply eccentric and not an easy listen - > just as one might have expected, but those who rated Tilt are likely to > approve. Interested by what I've heard so far. How many other ex 60s teen-idols are capable of making records that pose a listening challenge to the likes of us Idealcopyists? Compare his current output to Brian Wilson's last (new) LP or Paul McCartney's last LP. And its not like The Hollies are going to decide to take Radiohead on or something! I'm also pleased by Scott's disdain for the 'Rick Rubin' thing. He'd make a load of cash (pardon the pun) if he came back and did a string-laiden lush LP of easy listening stuff to delight the Sean Rowleys of this world. Fair play to the guy for just not giving a fuck. n.p. Matmos - A Rose has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast Am listening to the new Matmos LP (ahead of release date too...Ian and I are just so next week aren't we boys and girls?!) and thinking they should produce Scotts next LP as he is so fond of slapping meat and dropping breeze blocks into crates....I'm sure he'd dig this (samples of all manner of unpleasant things). ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 May 2006 19:23:49 -0500 From: "David McKenzie" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] The Drift I havent heard much from Simon Turner of late...
