The old numbers sounded pretty fresh... http://www.flickr.com/photos/55867717@N00/sets/998453/ Speaking of David Thomas, I heard an amusing anecdote about him last night, related to me by Gavin Friday. The rather well connected producer Hal Wilner recently convened a bunch of top notch singers and players like Tom Waits, Nick Cave, David Thomas, and Gavin amongst others, to produce an album of work songs, sea shanties and such like. Hal Wilner, some people will remember, produced a Mingus tribute album in the early 90s called Weird Nightmare, with another choice lineup. Anyway, during one of the sessions, David Thomas had just done his ditty and was sitting with very large pizza spread out on a box, and Gavin says to him "Give us a bit of your pizza". "No" says Thomas. "Go on give us a bit" Gavin tries again. "No". And so on for a few exchanges, till Thomas finally says, "No. Do you know what I'm gonna do ? I'm gonna go to ma hotel room, get naked, eat pizza and watch football !!" and stormed off. Keep chewing the vaporub David...
