At the heart of their story is the immeasurable personal and musical bond between bassist Mike Watt and singer and guiatrist D. Boon. Childhood friends, their unbridled creativity and political views were the foundation of this groundbreaking band which refused to be categorized as Punk. The film weaves together personal tales from Watt and drummer George Hurley with archival interview footage of the band and rare live performances. New interviews with over 50 musicians, artists, journalists, and friends help tell the Minutemen story, from their humble beginnings in the harbor town of San Pedro, California, to the tragic 1985 death of D. Boon in a highway accident in the Arizona desert. Interviews include: Mike Watt, D. Boon, George Hurley, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Ian MacKaye (Fugazi), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Henry Rollins, J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Richard Hell, Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), John Doe (X), Keith Morris (Circle Jerks, Black Flag), Colin Newman (Wire), Grant Hart (H|sker D|), Milo Aukerman (Descendents), Dez Cadena and Kira Roessler (Black Flag), Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets), Nels Cline, producer Spot, artist Raymond Pettibone, journalists Byron Coley and Richard Meltzer and many, many more. Colin features for about 30 seconds, interviewed on the last Wire tour of the US. Watch the trailer - it's a cracker. A great package too with TONS of extra stuff. More than well worth the mere 20 bucks pre-order price. Well, what are you waiting for ? I'd be tempted to wait for the separate issue of the two live CDs myself but as it happens my copies of 154 and Chairs Missing CDs are scratched and worn out beyond repair (I'm of the generation who saw "Tommorows World" presenters putting jam on CDs and putting them in a toaster and showing them still playing so I used to have loose Cds rattling around in my bag in the 1990s) so this is appealing. I'll give my fully working copy of Pink Flag to someone else. n.p Swell Maps - 'Waistrels and Whippersnappers' Clements, Bruno - BUP wrote: > So I'll be in Spain, getting away from it all in the mountains, yet hunting > for an internet cafe! > > Hopefully I'll find one before they sell out... > > B > > > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-idealcopy@smoe.org [mailto:owner-idealcopy@smoe.org]On > Behalf Of giluz > Sent: 26 April 2006 13:34 > To: idealcopy > Subject: [idealcopy] Box set faq update > > > http://www.posteverything.com/news/article.php?id=13896 > > -- > Now playing: > http://www.last.fm/user/giluz/ > > ********************************************************************** > This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and > intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they > are addressed.
