["Andrew Lumbard" Subject: [idealcopy] Many Pink Flags I was out the other day and I noticed a few fields with these tiny pink flags. Today I went out and shot some pics. Next to each flag was a tiny seedling. I thought they stopped planting trees? Usually they knock down trees, clear a field and build houses. Around here at least... here at my place of employment we use pink flags for the graves of the unclaimed deceased or those who do not have gravestones.... I realise most of you probably already own at least one vinyl copy and the CD re-issue with bonus tracks, so might be forgiven for not forking out yet again:- in fact, I might have given it a miss myself, had it not been for the unfortunate label-side blemish that prevents "French Film Blurred" from playing without hanging halfway through......but if anyone has bought one, what do you think of the remastering? Has it added any 'zing' to your ears? Well, I'm waiting for the box - no point at all in buying these reissues on their own.... I noted their presence in HMV yesterday. They're...OK - standard fold-out digipack (rather than 'vinyl replica', which would be nicer. The printing's not brilliant though - the back cover of Pink Flag was very badly aligned. And there's a nasty "digital remaster" strip printed on them by the spine (to counter the fact that a CD digipack isn't actually square). I'm not that much of a stamp collector to want this edition - I'll just buy teh box direct from PE ... Mark - --------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Chance found me in front of a TV showing UK Channel 5 on Friday, and noticed a Wire song off 'Pink Flag' being used as the backing soundtrack for a trailer plugging a retrospective "That was the seventies, that was" type of program....... Embarrassingly , I can't name the track, but it's the one with the lyrics "Joey's nervous and the lights are bright......" and "[dum de dum de dum] keep your eyes screwed to the floor"........ 2 questions arise: 1) do the boys know about their stuff getting used.? and 2) As I daresay the trailer won't have exceeded 30 secs duration, does this mean Wire will get a 'mechanicals" royalty payment, or does it's short lengh mean they miss out? I realise probably no-one here can answer 1), but what about 2) ? Anyone here know the threshold, (in terms of a sample's duration), after which you collect a royalty? It's about an hour and half into the show and lasts for half hour, for those wanting to use the 'Listen Again'. The Fifteenth gets cut short at the end due to his gratuitous plugging of PF product!
