John & Paul are brothers, BTW). They just played the LJ rework of Horrorshow. Didn't know this had happened, or that he was so active.... After Robert K became Nico's drug buddy they continued for a while as a 3-piece. Good band - saw them twice (London Venue, with Josef K supporting, and a pub in Coventry called the General Wolfe). The PRE records image makeover didn't help though - looking like a Spandau Ballet tribute band did not enhance their post-punk credibility - especialy next to someone like Josef K, who looked achingly cool. About paulresearch Live-wise, 2005 was a fantastic year. In January, the mighty sound of Horrorshow charted at 21 in the UK charts, featured as the backbone of Lemon Jelly's "The Shouty Track". In March The Scars reformed to play to a total crowd of 10,000 at The Edinburgh Usher Hall, Brixton Academy and The Forum Kentish Town with Lemon Jelly. In March my solo show at Optimo in Glasgow was a stormer, and lead to another set with Optimo in Edinburgh in May. A couple of dates over summer led to the two final solo sets of 2005 - the John Peel tribute night at Citrus Club was the acid test - 300 original punk scenesters in attendance - another storming night. And the following night with Shock and Awe at the Subway rounded things off nicely. Recording-wise, things could have gone better. The Scars nearly got reissued... but not quite. My solo recording career nearly got off the ground with a vinyl 7"... but then again it didn't. But at least people were interested - more people than ever looked into www.scarsresearch.com, which is now averaging visits from 135 individuals logging in every day from all over the world. Who knows what will happen in 2006? Nobody, but at least there will definitely be more thrills, more noise, more subsonic guitars, more wailing violins. Stay tuned! - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jan Noorda" To: "Ideal Copy" Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 3:26 PM Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT-Scars > http://www.soulsaw.com/pleasantly-surprised/ > > and Nico is mentioned as link.
