What a noise. Everybody in the Antarctic must have heard it" Ring any bells? I also might have one of the Andy Kershaw sessions with some of his "Glasgow dreamer" works eg "Glasgow, Glasgow, where are you ? Number 48 from Troon......." etc etc. Finding them amid a large box of (often minimally labelled) tapes might not be such a quick process, though.................. :-( Mark Short wrote: I'm sure I've got some of them somewhere, taped off the much missed "Walters' Weekly". I have the LPs he did for Virgin, but have to admit I don't listen to them too often - after a while he can seem a bit twee. I saw him live a couple of times, and in the flesh he didn't seem twee, not really sure why. Beefheart. This was Branson's attempt to break a few more artistes than the eminently bankable Mike Oldfield, quite a few of whom sank without trace. I got my copy dirt cheap IIRC, mainly for Ivor's track, and the Capt + the Robert Wyatt track (which *is* rather lovely, and .....erm........the Steve Hillage track "Pentagrammaspin" or somesuch bollox. (Well, it *was* ''74, and to borrow a Peel-ism, at that time I was mostly so smashed I couldn't have told you if I was sitting listening to music or tunneling through marzipan.) Never *really* got the Henry Cow / Slapp Happy bunch although the NME plainly did, as they had Fred Frith writing their 'teach yourself guitar' series for seeming ages. Nor did I particularly warm to Hatfield and the North's warmed-over Caravanesque whimsy, or the noodly mess that was Clearlight Symphony. IT also contains perhaps *THE* worst bit of electronica ever stuck on vinyl, in David "White Noise" Vorhause's excerpt from "white noise 2". WN 1 was quite an eerie and unique piece, but the track on 'V' is mostly a demo for his 'Kaleidophon' homebrew synth, and sounds to me so bad it would have made Walter/ Wendy Carlos blanche, with it's aimless noodling and twiddling garnished by resonance-swept flatulence.....[continues page 94] Keith Knight wrote: Ah 'V', a record which I still have but haven't played for a while. Worth it for Robert Wyatt's heartbreaking version of minor Chris Andrews hit 'Yesterday Man' if nothing else. And Slapp Happy / Henry Cow's 'Excerpt from the 'Messiah'', a song I can still on some days find myself unexpectedly humming. Wyatt later covered 'Go and Sit Upon the Grass' of course. (ahem) Okay. ^_^ Yes - you can't link directly to their video. Webservers can check for that stuff. Is there an alternate location for the video? That's probably the only way we'll get to see it. Alternatively, if you describe the steps you used to view it originally - or if there was an original long URL that you got from somebody, that may help.
