Upcoming concerts? My wife and I are going to see Dave Brubeck (yay!) Other definite shows are Belle & Sebastian (gulp) and The Sisters Of Mercy (double gulp). As you may have guessed, some of these shows were suggested by my wife.<<<<<<< There's big excitement in the UK over B&S at the moment - they're playing in Bristol tonight. Playing the new CD as we speak for the first time - quite like the 60s/70s influences - Sweet, Bowie (of course), Alan Price, Beach Boys, perhaps. Lightweight fun, I'd say, which is going down well with students needing a bit of cheering up in a grey (but dry) winter! Of course, it'll probably grow on me and I'll be saying they're the next Flaming Lips by next week and regret staying in tonight... I realise thats a big part of its appeal, bit like "The Streets" which I didn't take to either. I'm so used to listening out for sonic invention and looking for the lost chord (or something) I tend to listen through lyrics so when I hear something like Artic Monkeys I'm bound to be a bit underwhelmed...musically its Buzzcocks-Lite to my ears. Predictable music. Although it is quite loud & rough around the edges for your average Tesco-Indie band. The Ordinary Boys it 'aint. The whole internet angle on them and the whole "mp3 is changing the world" debate bores me rigid as well. I believe lots of 'Bloggers' are already debating that the album isn't as good as the original demo Mp3s. Wankers. Nothings changed, just different software. Good luck to em I suppose. Nice to have my birthplace Sheffield back on the pop map again. If they can avoid dissapearing into planet Doherty Perhaps they'll make an amazing 3rd album etc etc...mind you I said that about The Strokes. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Feb 2006 17:25:38 -0800 (PST) From: Ari Subject: [idealcopy] O.T: strictly for the guys............. ........if there ARE any ladies left around here...... http://tinyurl.com/asavd or http://www.kontrabandcontent.co.uk/1/graphics/pics/fondle_them.swf Tired of spam?
