It's worth picking up a promo CD of that if you can find it - I got one from Music & Video Exchange in Notting Hill for a quid. "Dance producer" remixes are a real bugbear of mine. Usually involves stripping out anything that makes the track interesting in the first place. Most of the recent New Order ones have involved removing Hooky's bass. In some cases, that was the only redeeming feature of the original track.... Played some rather safe and lame 70's pop shit and fucked around with our soundcheck. Funny enough because, though we had but half-a-dozen folks our to see us, he ha NONE. From WFMU: Q: Are we not men? A: We are Devo 2.0. I bet all you parents out there have been wondering how to get your kids interested in the music of Devo. Well, Disney came up with a solution: get the original members of Devo together to re-record some classic songs from the band's catalog, and have the vocals sung by 5 kids billed as Devo 2.0 (or possibly DEV2.0, if you go by the banner on the site). Check out the Devo 2.0 site for a bunch of videos that have been posted to the site (coming soon: Downloads! Games! Devo 2.0 Shop!), and get ready to buy the CD in March. I know no Robyn Hitchcock, but I saw him with the Minus 3 (three of REM, essentially - Bill Rieflin, Scott McCaughey and Peter Buck) on Sunday in Cambridge. I really enjoyed it - it was very, well, I'd say *jolly* but that sounds patronising! There was just a really nice atmosphere at the gig. One highpoint, amazingly, was the out-Byrdsing the Byrds on the traditional "Bells of Rhymney". - -- http://www.lexical.org.uk/ | http://covertmusic.com/ | work: adw27@cam.ac.uk "pigeon?" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jan 2006 18:09:28 -0000 From: "Keith A" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Soft Boys This from the cope site.
