I'm sure I've seen the film you refer to ( lots of guys in heavy-knit sweaters leaping into long whale-boats and going off for hazardous fishing trips on the briny, whilst the 'little women' wait back at the croft for the menfolk to return with...well, fish:- that the one?) When I saw it some time back, I looked for familiar craggy skylines but saw none:- I concluded that it was an Isle of ARAN (off of Ireland's coast), as opposed to the Isle of ARRAN, with 2 'R's' which lies off the mouth of the Clyde.... ? Maybe it was filmed off the North-Western side of the Isle, which I don't know........... Over to you, Fergus? You'll probably know the geography thereabouts better: *IS* there an Irish "Isle of Aran "? giluz wrote: On 12/20/05, Derek White wrote: > > I know the Isle of Arran, having spent some happy time walking the > mountains and wild places there some years back.
