Agreed.I know a few people from Cambridge who have met him... & Syd in  the 
past & they  all cannot find a bad word to say about him.I have  never met him 
but have heard interviews & read pieces & again he  comes across as the sort 
of bloke you could share a pint with.just like certain  Wire members. Hardly 
the same with regard to Roger Waters I might  suggest.
Again never met him but pieces I've read suggest he's a bit up his own  arse.
 
BTW Nice gesture by the Githead site with regard to Alistair. Respect is  
due....

Indeed so, but I'm not too well versed exactly how
much input Mike Thorne had to the end result.(I
haven't researched who did what, exactly:- I prefer to
let the music speak for itself) Certainly, It was
always an appropriate soundscape (at least on Chairs
Missing and 154) he set the band's work in, and I'd
prefer to gloss over the possibility that *a
producer*(!) was the sole hand that added these deft
touches.

I suppose it may be so, though.......<sigh>

have a look at _www.stereosociety.com_ (http://www.stereosociety.com)  (mike 
thorne's  excellent site) whee he talks at length about the making of the 3 
EMI albums.  probably best to look at him as part of a 5 man team? sure he had a 
lot of input  , though nothing like complete control. p
