This probably goes into my all-time top five concert list. Dave Gahan puts a lot of soul into his performance and, although I don't like their 90's output as much, his brush with rock stardom is evident in his showmanship. I was afraid that the band would pull most of the material from their last two or three albums (I think that the new album is their best since Violator, but the previous three albums don't measure up quite as well.), but Depeche Mode's setlist was a nice balance of old and new..."Everything Counts", "Just Can't Get Enough", "Somebody"...plus lots of material from Music For The Masses and Violator. I knew going in that it was too much to ask that Depeche Mode play a setlist consisting entirely of A Broken Frame/Construction Time Again material...it would be nice to see them play "Love In Itself", "Get The Balance Right" and the other stuff that got me into them in the first place back in 1984, but the material from the late 80's comes on really strong during their show. Not sure if anyone here is (still) into Depeche Mode, but the show that I saw Saturday night was certainly worth a mention here. Play any new Sony CDs of late?? Well you may have a rootkit installed on your computer. The Sony/BMG DRM rootkit was first discovered by F-Secure and widely publicized by Mark Russinovich of Sysinternals in his blog. The Sony DRM hides itself by modifying the Windows kernel, names itself "Plug and Play Device Manager" to confuse users, consumes CPU resources whether running or not with sloppily written code that does things like querying the file size eight times per scan, scanning every two seconds, and, worst of all, allows any hacker to easily hide files on your system. Sony's license agreement is vague about what it's installing and implies that it can be easily disabled. It cannot. Use Sysinternals' Rootkit Revealer or F-Secure's Blacklight to find the rootkit - look for $sys$ - but don't remove it or you'll loose access to your CD-ROM drive. Sony is now offering removal instructions that point you to the XCP Aurora web site and Service Pack 1 containing "fixes and workarounds." ( http://aurora.com/ ) For more Information on this PLEASE go to Security Now ( http://grc.com/securitynow.htm ) Download Eps. 12 (MP3 MOV and most other formats are avalible) They will cover detection and removal tools...... as well as HOW SUCKY THIS SPYWEAR CRAP IS! (instead, that afternoon i drove to auburn -- about 30 percent of the way to atlanta -- to take advantage of a comic shop's literal fire sale ... also swung by the hastings books & music around the corner & picked up used copies of the latest albums by kmfdm, the a-frames & ... damn ... someone i forget.) dan - -------------- Original message from "Jason Rogers" : -------------- > After being a fan of Depeche Mode since I was in sixth grade or so back in > 1984, I finally had the chance to see them in concert this weekend and I > have to say that I'm quite impressed.
