I regret that fleeting meeting with him was my only one, but as I said, his posts were always insightful , witty, and worth reading. RIP, Alistair................ And I thought I never met him but did of course that night at The Barbican.Again fleetingly but I somehow feel better now that I did. I'll own up. I *really* liked 'Felt Mountain'. I even liked the tick-tock electropop of 'Black Cherry'. But the new work sounds like the average bits of BC volume 2. As regards their stage 'presentation', I think they're *either* getting some bad advice, or let's just say Alison G's losing a sense of proportion, , and leave it at that........ I see the point about the interveiw technique.... :-) When I saw the series was back for *another* run, I inwardly groaned. It's getting very stale. Try something else , BBC. I don't know why, cos I think they're fucking awful. ((( I can't understand the appeal of Foldcrap at all. The 1000th recycling of glam is so... tedious... it's a squeaky clean, irony free zone for people with short memory. Drools Holland kicked off his programme with her last night (I don't know why I was watching anyway), and, 30 seconds in I had to zap the telly. Nuff o' that shit. Get back to my book, the excellent "How Mumbo Jumbo Conquered The World" by Francis Wheen. He'd have a thing or two to say about Foldcrap's frothy nonsense.. I remember the big circle of seats because they had to fit that big metal stage setup in there. Great show! One of the guys had glow-in-the-dark contact lenses during the encore and the crowd went into a hysterical violent mosh during "Headhunter" (this was back when it was considered cool to mosh). In a week or so full of other concerns I'd barely checked my email, and only did so briefly on Thursday evening whilst checking bus times prior to The Fall's gig here in Leeds. I saw the mass of email headed 'very sad news' and dipped in just to see which of-interest-to-IC musician/artist had departed, only to see report of Alistair's death. Terrible news. We met at the Barbican and conversed occassionally offline. He was a good guy. I raised a quiet glass to him at the Fall gig an hour or so later by a wall bearing large IC letters (they stood for Irish Centre, but I improvised). It's very sad. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Oct 2005 21:05:52 +0100 (BST) From: Monochromatic Man Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Foldcrap I really enjoy the latest Goldfrapp. Especially the SACD version.
