Interesting you should like this one, Tim, as I was thinking only yesterday that there's something rather Beach Boy-like about it. Some great tunes, arranagements etc, with the 60's influenced Piccolo Snare being this weeks favourite. There's also some great Bryter Layter-like arrangements, and for us aging glamsters there is, of course, Golden Retriever, which is sure to get me reaching for the old boa. Not heard the new one, mind. Wasn't sure about the single at first... I'm guessing this is a live cd from their brief re-union, though the inclusion of Friggin' in the Riggin' confused (and deterred!) me. Anyone confirm this? And if so, anyone heard it - what's it like? cheers, Keith NP THE REVOLUTIONARIES At Channel 1 (top notch dub) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 Aug 2005 21:02:01 EDT From: MarkBursa@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] Jubillee >>I saw the Sex Pistols Jubilee cd cheap in a supermarket today and was tempted. It's basically a singles compilation of everything released as the Sex Pistols. So you get the four classic singles, plus all the Swindle-era guff, Sid, Biggsy and all the rest of Malcolm's wet dream. Spend your money on the box set instead and hear the Mike Thorne sessions, with the same arrid Pink Flag sound. Or, if you can still find it, the double-album Bollocks with the Dave Goodman sessions included. Both essential purchases. The 2002 Crystal Palace gig (including Belsen, all the B-sides & covers but mercifully no Friggin' in the Rigging) hasn't been released - very much a cabaret show compared to the "serious" 96 gig - which is basically Bollocks Live. All good stuff but nothing very groundbreaking... New Elbow album is very good, but if you can't stand Coldplay/Radiohead then it may not be for you. I think they are worth sticking with. Bruno>>> I'm going to see Elbow on next Monday, advertised as an "Intimate" gig, at the Oxford Zodiac. Damn well looking forward to it. Wonder if they'll be flogging the new album there. Hi to one & all, Someone's putting some Wire Torrents up at Dime A Dozen & i wondered if anyone knows the exact date for the one listed below? Tim Np's - Green Wing Complete - Hospital Shannigans (From UK TV) Bill Evans - "Stuff" Portion Control - Old & new "Wire 1978 London DescriptionVery sorry about that...I inadvertantly included a track that is currently available on an offically sanctioned disc, and is not even part of this show. I also left off one cut that belongs to the show - got them mixed up. Gheesh! BTW, your tracks will read 6 through 13 rather than 1-8. I had them on a disc with an officially released program (which is how I made the error), and forgot to change their names. Wire Unknown day and month, 1978 Unknown venue, London, England Soundboard(...or a good audience job?) > ? > Vinyl Bootleg, "London 1978" > wav > CDR > EAC Secure > FLAC Frontend 1. Being Sucked 2. Blessed State 3. A Question of Degree 4. Heartbeat 5. Another the Letter 6. Practice Makes Perfect 7. Two People In A Room 8. Mysterious Certainly this must be incomplete(?), but I have no idea. According to Robert Gotobed's diary Wire played London seven times in 1978: 02/02 - Marquee 02/22 - Lyceum 03/21 - 100 Club 07/02 - Lyceum 10/05 - City Polytechnic 11/22 - Marquee 11/23 - Marquee For my money, because of the inclusion of "A Question of Degree", it would be one of the November dates. Possibly July or October, but certainly not the earlier dates. This tune doesn't show up on other boots or studio sessions until November. Any Wire scholars out there? Any thoughts? Anyway the sound is very good - enjoy! http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=57616" (You'll have to register) ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V8 #233 *******************************
