I liked it a lot..sound like space-prog-post-opera written under monitoring of Slowdive and MBV. Till now one of my fave this year..it is on repeat last few weeks.. here's when you can hear new Sigur Ros on stream http://scenestars.net/ (scroll down to Wednesday August 3, and then the "click here to stream" link below the tour dates). > Another album I've been enjoying is Caribou's The Milk Of Human Kindness, > particualrly the more Neu-like moments. I missed them on Exit festival, just because i didn't paid attention to all of stages (there was about 20 stages!!) so when i find out that i missed Caribou... friend of mine, who is big Caribou and Manitoba fan, said to me that live it isn't good as on records.. now playing South San Gabriel -The Dark Of Garage ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Aug 2005 11:25:14 +0100 From: "Ian B" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT - Deadwood - a rather sad request I wouldn't normally do this but I've drawn a blank elsewhere, but if anybody could email me off list with a brief synopsis of last Monday/Tuesday's (UK) Deadwood, I'd be grateful. Really? Well done to 'em. Robin Guthrie really rates them apparently as well. They did us a nice remix before they left anyway. We're still signed to Gooom Disques! Really must finish our next record off...they're not exactly hard taskmasters though. I think I might stick a huge imaginary cardboard cheque above my computer from Mute.. Saw him as 'Manitoba'. It was kind of manic, guys in masks banging things. I quite enjoyed it, it was just very different to what you might expect...a very ramshackle, garage band version of the music on the record. Apparently he's gutted about having to change the band name (understandably when you've got good press for yr first record and about to release the second), pity he couldn't afford the same lawyers Geffen had to defend 'Nirvana'. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Aug 2005 21:43:50 -0500 From: David McKenzie Subject: [idealcopy] [ot] old releases and whatnot belly and tanya donelley's solo albums have been in heavy rotation here for no discenable reason - well - other than she has an amazing voice and even more amazing command of songcraft last year's whisky tango ghosts was the sleeper of the year for me and the choice of glyn johns to produce the last belly album, king strikes me as even more brilliant today than at the time. just had to share that ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V8 #223 *******************************
