From: owner-idealcopy-digest@smoe.org (idealcopy-digest) To: idealcopy-digest@smoe.org Subject: idealcopy-digest V8 #210 Reply-To: idealcopy@smoe.org Sender: owner-idealcopy-digest@smoe.org Errors-To: owner-idealcopy-digest@smoe.org Precedence: bulk idealcopy-digest Saturday, August 6 2005 Volume 08 : Number 210 Today's Subjects: ----------------- [idealcopy] bruce n tezza [PaulRabjohn@aol.com] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 05 Aug 2005 11:42:42 -0400 From: PaulRabjohn@aol.com Subject: [idealcopy] bruce n tezza bought a copy of this terry edwards sampler , thought it had to be worth a fiver. definitely worth that , maybe for the bruce track alone. saw gallon drunk once and was underwhelmed , all seemed a bit of a birthday party pastiche. since then mr edwards has done a mountain of stuff and runs this sartorial records which is mainly his own output (solo stuff , bands , collaborations). tracks on the compilation are mostly pretty good , lots of sax blowing all over it and a nice variety of stuff. the bruce track is a bit of a freak-out to close matters , probably the best thing on here. i guess bruce is playing guitar but not sure there ; don't recall this gig being mentioned at the time. sadly there are also a few tracks by (of all people) the higsons , whose back catalogue TE seems to be releasing as well. now charlie higson is a talented guy. as a comedian. as a musician he was dire (as i think he openly admits) , the higsons were like a sort of crappy pigbag-lite which wasn't really what anyone was asking for as far as i can remember. their travelling partners serious drinking and the farmers boys were nearly as bad , there's actually a SD track on here too (i think their "12XU" cover was a fluke , never heard anything else bearable by them). i think the east anglian cowpunk revival can be put on hold for a bit. but don't let this put you off , 18 tracks for a fiver (p&P included) has to be worth a punt.... p ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V8 #210 *******************************
