Right there, Wire played on their last tour @ venue Lee's Palace. I think the Annex still has it's own record Shoppe on Bloor St. A cool one on College (name forgotten), Penguin Music & others on Queen W. cafC)s on College St., Queen St. W. & others depending on how far you want to travel or how much time you have clubs on Queen W., College & other Pub types all about. depending on if you have a travelling partner you've got the Toronto Islands, High Park, The Beaches, Kensington Mrkt as well as mainstream attractions like Casa Loma, CN Tower, Baseball etc... There's a Lonely Planet Guide to Toronto if you can snag that from your local library before you travel. It's a few years on since the 1st edition. guessing you're getting here by airplane - http://www.gtaa.com other cities: Ottawa - 5 hours drive, Montreal 6 hours drive, Niagara Falls,Ont. - 1.75 hours drive, Niagara-on-the-Lake 1.5 hours, Buffalo,NY 2 hours, Detroit 4 hours drive. About the same goes for train travel times. free weekly newspapers: www.nowtoronto.com , www.eye.net web portals : www.toronto.com www.toronto-goth.com email me private for more. Toronto has 3 different phone dialing area codes which are a PITA. 10 digits the dial everywhere here. cheers! alex v. toronto - ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Jul 2005 18:20:36 GMT From: "P J Kane" Subject: [idealcopy] (OT) going to Toronto sorry for the Off-topic message, but i was wondering if anyone here can offer some advice. it's a ways off, but i am heading to Toronto in early September for a little vacation time. looking for recommendations on: - - - good record shops - - - good restaurants/cafes/bars - - - good bookstores - - - anything else really cool to do while i am in the city i am staying with a friend who lives downtown near a trendy shopping area called The Annex, if that helps anyone know specifically where i will be at. but i will have locals who i can make drive me places... anyway, any help is much appreciated. you can email me off-list so as to not annoy the rest of the people here. thanks.
