If *ever* a device was aptly named, this was it: poss. abbreviated from "angry wasp with flatulence trapped in jam jar". Very possibly THE worst synth ever made<< Disagree. I've used them (long ago!) and they do have their uses. They make a decent bass noise, and are fantastic for sheer noizzzze (see Whitehouse live to find out just how effective the Wasp can be in that environment). Just don't attempt to use them as a "keyboard" instrument! >> [although perhaps] the ARP Axxe maybe runs it close.<< Never used an Axxe. I do have an ARP Quartet, the base-model string synth. It only has one decent sound, but what a sound... Oh, and those Maplin 'kit synths':- 'Trancendant' my arse. :-P<< That was the Joy Division Synth - the Transcendent 2000. New Order used it right up to about 1984 - it does most of the "noise" bits on Blue Monday. >> And some kind of cheapo bontempi organ with horrible 'bossanova' drum machine. Aha! Must have been a 'luxury model' Bontempi..... I used to use a 1970 vintage Bontempi reed organ on a couple of songs, & my bandmates had much fun taking the rip (" Oh look:- it's Bagpuss' mighty Mouse Organ", etc etc.)<< Heh. Available at a car boot sale near you this weekend ;-) Mark ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jul 2005 21:40:48 +0100 From: "Norm Fasey" Subject: RE: [idealcopy] Cosmic sounds (man ; ) Nice one Fergus...
