As a document of the overall quality of Wire material of that period, it demonstrates the abundance of good material available through the fact that it consists of demos or tracks not chosen for release most of which stand up well by themselves. Wire are well known for modifying existing songs or even totally transforming them and sometimes variants stand up well besides the official releases. Underwater Experiences is a good example of a song that has a totally different mood to its Document & Eyewitness release, a different song almost. The sleeve notes I seem to remember suggest that the ambience was impossible to duplicate when it came to 'proper' recording, despite lots of trying.
