People have had to resort to thick booklets or fold-outs that could hardly fit into the case to have some kind of artwork that would make an impression. Having toyed with the idea of creating an application, a program, that would play his music while showing images, video or text, for some time, Klaus Ammitzbxll has decided to release his three new albums in this form. With these application albums, the large image is here, again. The possibilities are almost limitless, with the drawback of being chained to the computer. But since things are going that way anyway, it's time to raise the curtain on these apps. As an experiment, they are distributed for free under the Creative Commons license. I heared and saw a small piece of Discipline till sofar. Autechre like beats with noizy guitarsounds. And that on my old pc from about 7 years now. or is it my computer who is crashing? Will try later again when the time seems to be less dense I think it is good idea to think about sleeves and or images with music. And probably packaging is getting more and more important again. Copying a wooden box with some sigar smoking twidling noise is more difficult then do this with the complete work of Albert Ayler or Wolfgang A.M. on mp3 format j Tired of spam? Yahoo! Japan's Steve Jansen began improvising on gong, after 5 minutes Robin Guthrie blended in. Budd himself joined and Bill Nelson (Beebop DeLuxe), then the Balanescu Quartet. Only after 20 minutes or so Jah Wobble & Steve Jansen added a tightly played bass/drum base beneath the mega-drone. Apparently by this time the crowd was devided in those who either were in total ecstasy (my brother) or those who left or covered their ears in shock (his wife). He also said it brought the layeredness of Wire III to mind... right, like I would fall for that one. Probably just wants his named mentioned again on our beloved list ;-) - ------- I was there too - and I was one of the first to leave! The gong and guthrie thing was OK, but things took a real dive when Bill Nelson started doing his bog-standard mid-70s lead guitar thing. It reminded me more of a jazz-fusion wig out than anything else, and had little to do with Wire IMHO. Relieved to hear that he didn't do an encore, which was my only concern about leaving. Getting out early also meant I got to see most of the Eurovision scoring, so winners all round really. Highlight for me was probably John Foxx's appearance, which probably squares with not liking muso wig-outs.
