So gold star to Mr Lumbard for his nocturnal activities! Now it's just a case of editing it back into the right order, which is as follows according to cub reporter Robinson's report on Wireviews: Pink Flag, Silk Skin Paws, Boiling Boy, He Knows, 40 Versions, Lowdown, Mercy, Advantage in Height, Another the Letter, 12XU, Drill. Shame they didn't play Heartbeat at ATP - they did a fine version at the Garage IIRC. And it's a shame 40 versions wasn't on either of the two most recent broadcasts as it would be easier to edit from just the last two (the earlier ones I took from the archived R6 website stream via TotalRecorder; the last two were recorded via Sky direct to DVD-RW). Should be the same bitrate though. Last night's broadcast was good - plenty of space round the songs and not many bad edits like on the previous DreamTicket broadcasts. Agent Lumbard - your next assignment: Get R6 to repeat the 2000 Wire session! He hadn't heard of any of them. When I hear the term punk-jazz I assume experienced jazz players playing raw rather than the other way around. And I wouldn't consider Blurt jazz. The term punk funk might be closer. Not the best show - I would be hard pressed to say it was even a good show Many glowing comments on the list at a rejuvenated Go4 some months back left me in anticipation of something on the order of the Television reformation I didn't really expect anything transcendental as Wire were the last go round, but tonite's show was more on the order of Filthy Lucre Not that I begrudge the lads their pension, but . I am reminded of going to the Elk's Lodge with my folks to see The Glenn Miller Orchestra some years after Miller's passing. Andy Gill still has the moves, but the playing was limpid. And you cannot blame the audience. The sold-out house at Metro was enthusiastic and chanting along with every anthemic lyric. The band even seemed surprised at the enthusiasm and attempted to reciprocate, but. Fell short of expectations - very short Charles and I stayed to the end of the second encore (I said the audience was enthusiastic) But didn't see our friend Neil afterwards He has a lower tolerance for mediocrity. I wanted fire, I got nostalgia. My recommendation is to expect the latter and be grateful if you get the former ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 May 2005 07:16:03 +0100 From: "Keith A" Subject: Re: [idealcopy] ot Go4 in CHicago tonite Sounds like a different band to the one I saw. > I wanted fire, I got nostalgia. > > My recommendation is to expect the latter and be grateful if you get the > former ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 May 2005 03:39:18 -0400 From: paulrabjohn@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] ot Go4 in CHicago tonite couldn't agree more keith , the birmingham gig i saw earlier this year gave me the biggest buzz since , ooohh , wire at brighton. p - -----Original Message----- From: Keith A To: idealcopy@smoe.org Sent: Fri, 13 May 2005 07:16:03 +0100 Subject: Re: [idealcopy] ot Go4 in CHicago tonite Sounds like a different band to the one I saw. > I wanted fire, I got nostalgia. > > My recommendation is to expect the latter and be grateful if you get the > former ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 May 2005 03:41:16 -0400 From: paulrabjohn@aol.com Subject: [idealcopy] tv eye tonight on "later" is arcade fire (are the fall next week?) , on j.ross is new order "featuring ana matronic". hmmm. i downloaded the NO album about a month ago but still havn't been arsed to play it back. you sort of know what's coming really.............. p ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V8 #127 *******************************
