Perhaps it lodged in my brain more than I suspected when I saw them live. Lyrically, there's some real wit at play: Everyday I love you less and less I can't believe once you and me did sex Since everyday I love you less and less It makes me sick to think of you undressed Excellent use of the word 'did' there, emphasising the growing revulsion for this relationship. Full marks, young Chief. And how's this for a description of a night out in a British town: I tried to get to my taxi The man in a tracksuit attacks me And wants to get things a bit gory Girls scrabble around with no clothes on To borrow a pound for a condom If it wasn't for chip fat they'd be frozen Great stuff, especially that last line. That song - I Predict a Riot - also contains a word - Leodensian - I actually had to look up, which normally only happens with Peter Hammill albums. And certainly a good deal better than the dread Stereophonics, I'd suggest Andrew. Their principal danger, it seems to me, is turning into Supergrass, although they've already outstripped that band's output to my mind. It's not like there aren't good guitar bands (step forward British Sea Power and accept your laurels) out there, but the Kaiser Chiefs are SO DULL. They're the NuBritpopStereophonics. When will the British retail establishment realise that cheaper means more sales which in turn means more profit and less downloads (?)If I can buy the disc for the same price as a download guess what I'm gonna do. Last night I Went to work at a small club here called the Crossbar,(cap.230/250-ish) where I was doing the FOH sound. Headliners were Les 'Fruitbat' Carter's latest band, Abdoujoporov . During their soundcheck they launched into quite a spirited rendition of a section of "Being Sucked in again" which got them off to a good start in my eyes.....talking to them after their gig, (which was pretty damn fine) they said they'd struck lucky when touring Australia last year when they saw "our boys" whilst in the same town, and were mightily impressed with the "Send" set, Carter being a Wire fan for some time, apparently............ The night was rounded off by playing "Dot Dash " & "Options R" down the PA & whilst some got their coats, the idiot dancers were in full effect while they played. Tired of spam? Yahoo!
