Did a version of "Smells like Teen spirit" on massed Kazoos?? Absolutely beserk. Laughed so much I thought I was about to have a fit of incontinence........ :-) Keith A wrote: Well... I managed to get a copy of this 12" single off ebay. Arrived today in fact! Although I had Stayin' Alive on an old Peel tape I hadn't heard the versions of Miss You and Whole Lotta Love since Peel played them at the time (1978-79). They're just as daft as I remembered!! My daughter, who is roughly the same age as i would have been when i first heard it, HATED it though!! Kids, eh? K. Yahoo! Mail - You care about security. Just wonder what he *thought* he was taking on? Afraid of being typecast? My arse. He didn't display any such fears whilst trousering the cash, and to drop his bombshell after just one episode had aired was just crass and insulting to the rest of the cast and crew who'd staked rather a lot on the thing working. I mean, it wasn't as if the role, and the accompanying 'baggage' (no, not Billie Piper) was an unknown quantity to him. Just another poor 'luvvie' who doubtless feels it's all beneath him, and he should *really* be 'playing the Dane' at Stratford. Twat. As for the other comments..... Pretty Much echo what Tim says below: I stopped watching it for a long time when not only puberty hit, but also John Pertwee took over the part with his low rent "dedicated follower of fashion" look and all the bargain-basement James-Bond-isms that suddenly appeared. Couldn't come to terms with the Doc' working to some dudes in Khaki, when he was supposed to be ....well...alien. Not much sense there, I feel. Tom Baker was a good Dr, and I quite warmed to the Sylvester McCoy incarnation: that slightly unhinged edge to the character is an essential, IMHO. And the less said about that awful Paul McGann feature-lengh episode, the better............... During other Dr's turns, I largely ignored it, but was genuinely happy to see the series return. But as Tim said, it's the writing that's the star:-pretty sharp and def contemporary.. Eccleston's 'Manic Grin' personna was apt, but Billie whats-her-face was nearly as wooden as Pinochio. Thank gawd that despite the shedloads of CGI, the inherent 'cheap'n'cheerful' quality of the alien characters hasn't altogether gone....;-) It's part of it's inherent charm, I feel. Tim wrote: I was a big fan up until puberty, but since abandoned much interest in all matters Timelord up until now but must admit this new series has awaken the inner Gallifreyan in me.... Thought Eccleston did a pretty good job and his manic grin and his way with a malevolent alien threat had a touch of the Tom Bakers about it and the new series is very 2005 and seems to be something that actually lives up to the hype for once. Don't think he's done himself any favours by quitting so soon...surely he's already typecast as the gruff northerner with 'hidden depths'...hence this regeneration is a gruff, northern Dr Who with hidden depths! Bloody actors eh? Beats working for a living doesn't it? Still, the real star of the show is Russel T Davis who is on board for series 2 so.... And good to hear the theme tune very close to Radiophonic Workshop/Delia Derbyshire original.
