Both bands rocked out pretty well. It wasn't my favorite Interpol performance of the six times I've seen them, but the band has gotten better at working the crowd, etc. I say, the venues get bigger every time that Interpol comes back here; that's a good thing for the band. I was impressed by the Blonde Redhead set as well. Knowing what a potent outfit they could be live, the scarcity is puzzling. I realise this may be heresy to some, but.......... I bought the vinyl 'Document and Eyewitness' more or less as it came out. I'd be surprised if I've got into double figures with the number of plays it's had , with the '45' 12" getting the lion's share of *that* use, mainly for "Go ahead" and "Ally in exile". Large parts of the '33' all seems pretty ramshackle to me. It's good to have it, I guess, but would I have bought it had I heard it first...? Hmmm. Guess you had to be there. The show will no longer be available by the time I can do this, however, so I will still have to throw myself on the mercy of listees! At least quite a few tracks were played - it's not as if there's an over abundance of good live Wire recordings IMHO. B the show is streamed on the website http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/dream_ticket/ so something like Total Recorder will let you keep it for posterity. ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. Over the weekend, I saw a VT of a Channel 4 program called (I think) "Absolute filth:- The real Derek and Clive" that got a screening at Xmas, that featured a chunk of "Feeling called Love" in the soundtrack, as well as other songs of a similar vintage by different artists (Public Image, Undertones among others) Is the Wire habit catching in TV land? There's certainly someone with very good taste in BBC Sports - a feature on Football Focus last Saturday on the contributions of Messrs Terry, Lampard & Cole to the England cause was accompanied by Ultra Vivid Scene's "Three Stars". Are they?! And, the golden rule of gig-going..don't buy tickets on the strength of the support act. We did this once, missed half the support (Mercury Rev when they were still worth seeing) and ended up having to watch fucking Bob Mould beat his vest for what felt like 3 hours. Never again. ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V8 #90 ******************************
